Project Description

ZapPay is building the PayPal for AI Agents — a payment layer that enables safe, refundable, and autonomous stablecoin transactions between humans and AI systems.

Today’s stablecoin payments are irreversible and lack trust or refund mechanisms, making them unsuitable for autonomous agents. ZapPay solves this by introducing a refundable payment layer (x402), allowing users to safely delegate financial actions to their AI agents with full confidence.

We’ve integrated PayPal USD (PYUSD) support on Sepolia and Arbitrum Sepolia, providing a real-world testing environment for refundable, agent-driven payments.

In short, ZapPay builds trust between humans and AI through reversible, programmable stablecoin payments.

How it's Made

ZapPay is built as an x402 payment layer combining smart contracts, EIP-3009 authorization, and off-chain AI orchestration.

We use TypeScript + Viem for on-chain interactions and contract deployment, integrating PayPal USD (PYUSD) on Sepolia and Arbitrum Sepolia to test stablecoin transactions via transferWithAuthorization().

Our backend “facilitator” listens for authorized payment events and executes them only when both the AI agent’s output and user approval conditions are met. This creates a real-time “trust layer” that mimics PayPal’s payment authorization flow — but for AI agents.

We also implemented a refund logic prototype, allowing rollback of mistaken or invalid agent payments. We have maximum 60 days settlement date if the wallet risk score is high.

It’s a mix of on-chain authorization, off-chain verification, and refund simulation — built fast, tested across chains, and designed to make AI-driven payments safe and reliable.
