Project Description

Ancestry has always been a fascinating topic to most people as they seek to understand themselves better by understanding the past . The current solutions consists of centralized entities that have insufficient methods and incentives of protecting user genetic data. However with modern encryption practices we have better options, and here's where WorldTree comes in. WorldTree is a cryptographically secured private ancestry service that grants the user the ability to connect with his relatives and verify (without trusting) his ancestral origins.

How it's Made

We have made a Worldcoin mini app mobile application utilizing the MiniKit-JS SDK. Utilizing their proof of human mechanism for matching a human with their genetic (SNP) Single nucleotide polymorphic data. Keep in mind the data and compute is entirely local. The user then has to generate a zk proof to validate that their genetic information matches certain thresholds and metrics. Afterwards they can connect to people who are related to them through a novel scheme we call the 'Handshake'. The 'Handshake' is basically an MPC FHE algorithm for calculating the similarity between 2 individual PCA sets. we perform that by 2 methods: bloom filter set intersection cardinality and also by projecting the dna as 2 vectors and perform a dot product in FHE. Next, in order to enhance the privacy and obfuscation of the system we leverage differential privacy by adding random ancestors to the tree posted on chain. In this way we guarantee that if someone other than the user acquires this information, they wont extract any information out of it. Finally, users can stake rewards for any relative of theirs who wishes to extend their tree in that scheme such that only one party shares their data along with a zero knowledge proof verifying relatedness.
