Project Description

Web3Games.space is a platform/space which allows web2/web3 game developers to deploy and publish their browser based games on the Polygon blockchain. It leverages the IPFS technology to host the games efficiently for the users.

The launch of Web3Games.space aims to be the world’s first multi-blockchain gaming platform that allows gamers and developers to play and transact in games without moving a single blockchain asset.

Web3games.space is not only a platform, but also a full-fledged application and a publisher which has the ability to publish, develop and distribute games to the public.

The user can play the games without needing to go to various websites and remember them for the future. We allow the user to play the game directly from our platform, which saves time and allows them to store their favorite game in a collection.

We allow developers to publish their games on the IPFS. The feature is very useful for developers who want to directly share their software with the users without the need to pay for servers and hosting.

Web3Games.space also has plans for a reward system for the developers and users in the near future. We also plan to bring social features inside the platform, which would allow users to chat with their friends while playing.

We aim to be the open and decentralized Steam like game marketplace.

How it's Made

To develop this platform, we used:

IPFS (For storage and hosting): The IPFS technology allows efficient and decentralized storage for storing the details of any particular game, like the thumbnail and preview video. IPFS also allows to host webpages in a decentralized way. We utilized this feature by allowing game developers to easily deploy and host their games on our platform itself without needing to pay for hosting fees.

Polygon Blockchain: Every time a new game is published on the platform, the developer is required to sign a transaction which stores the game metadata on chain. This allows us to query the data efficiently and in return results in an open and public network. Every user can have a look at the creator of the game, which allows for more transparency and less chance of scams.

Covalent API: We used the Class A, Base API, which returns a paginated list of decoded log events with one or more topic hashes separated by a comma. Using the API we were easily able to load the most recent and recommended for the users. Having the data on chain is a different thing, the ability to query on it using a REST API is a different thing. It helps in saving time that is needed to decode all the raw data received from the normal on chain request.

Valist: We used Valist for publishing our project on their platform. It makes it easier to distribute our product.

HyperDapp: We created a basic HyperDapp Flow, which allows the users to interact with the Dapp in a basic and efficient UI. We allow the user to interact with the platform using both ways.
