Project Description

Web3 Badminton Club is an innovative community platform that combines physical sports with Web3 technology. Our website allows users to join the community by connecting their wallets and participating in weekly badminton events. After each activity, members receive unique POAPs, which can be accumulated to redeem free event participation or limited-edition team uniforms. Core features of the platform include:

Wallet connectivity for Web3 identity authentication Event registration and cryptocurrency payment integration Member contact information collection system POAP collection and reward mechanism showcase Future implementation of DAO governance, allowing members to participate in important club decisions

Our vision is to create a community that combines physical health with emerging technology, while providing a friendly entry experience for non-Web3 users to learn about cryptocurrency and decentralized applications through badminton. This project is not just a website, but an experimental social organization model, demonstrating how Web3 technology can be applied to traditional social activities.

How it's Made

This project is built using Next.js as the primary framework, combining React components with server-side rendering for optimal performance. For Web3 integration, we implemented wallet connectivity using WagmiConnect and Web3Modal libraries, allowing users to authenticate with MetaMask and WalletConnect protocols.

The frontend is designed with TailwindCSS for responsive layouts and styling, making the interface accessible across devices. We structured the application with a clean architecture separating Web3 functionality from UI components.

For event management, we integrated with external services like Luma through their embedding API rather than rebuilding existing solutions. This allowed us to focus on the Web3 aspects of the platform while leveraging battle-tested tools for traditional functions. The POAP showcase functionality uses the Ethereum blockchain to verify and display proof of attendance tokens. Our simplified implementation helps bridge the gap between physical activities and digital ownership, creating tangible rewards for community participation. One interesting challenge was balancing Web3 integration with user experience - we prioritized making the platform approachable for non-Web3 users while still showcasing the technology's potential for community organization.
