UpCent is a webapp that transforms everyday PayPal payments into automated crypto savings.

Each PayPal transaction is rounded up to the nearest threshold, and the spare difference is seamlessly converted into PYUSD. Funds are secured by Ledger hardware wallets and allocated into simple on-chain yield strategies, optimized by Flare-powered data analytics.

For users: effortless entry into crypto savings, real yield on stablecoins, and security by design with Ledger custody.

For partners: PayPal sees deeper engagement and a new use case for PYUSD adoption. Ledger gains recurring activity on Ledger Live, stronger device adoption, and a direct revenue stream from on-ramp fees. Flare showcases its data infra with a live, large-scale consumer use case.

UpCent is built as a webapp integrated with PayPal, Ledger Live, and Flare.

Onramp & chain: Each PayPal transaction is rounded up to the nearest $10 (MVP). The difference is converted into PYUSD directly via Ledger Live onramp partners (e.g. MoonPay). From there, funds are secured on the user’s Ledger hardware wallet.

Custody & UX: Everything is self-custody by design. The Ledger Live SDK lets us display balances, history, and analytics. All transactions use clear signing on Ledger devices, guaranteeing transparency and security. Optimization logic: Flare provides the data backbone. We combine: Web2 indicators (TradingEconomics, macro APIs) Web3 metrics (Dune Analytics, Coingecko, on-chain data indexed by Flare) This powers an engine that allocates PYUSD/stables into yield strategies dynamically. Protocols integrated (roadmap): Aave, Morpho, Compound (stable yields).

Hacky bits worth noting: Repurposed PayPal rounding events into an on-chain savings trigger pipeline — a bridge from Web2 to Web3. MVP uses PayPal-linked emails as notifications, avoiding the need for a separate alert system. Added backend support for configurable thresholds (nearest $10 → $100 → $1000), ready for user scaling. Worked around Ledger Live’s limited boilerplate/templates to get the integration running quickly.
