Project Description

This idea started as a way to create a down-to-earth, easy-to-use tool. It should both help new DeFi users have a simplistic home to track crypto prices, and provide users interested in learning how to code a non-intimidating way of bridging the gap between a high interest in DeFi and no knowledge or experience coding. This is especially important as over time, regardless of regulation, new users will want to have better learning resources that serve as bridges between specialties and levels of skill sets. I used this time during the hackathon to more effectively network with peers and gather information helpful to the creation of what is now a functioning tool. This project is still in progress as I want to fully understand some basic coding vocabulary in order to create educational material complementing the Token Search Tool. How we present information is subject to change after the complimentary educational resources are complete. As a primarily educational endeavor, I seek to share this project and content with everyone in hopes of collaborating with and learning from others.

How it's Made

The initial commit was made October 30th, 2021.

First, we combined the previous day’s code and added styling. In addition, we fixed the Read Me type for better transparency. We are still experimenting but for now, switched to using the Coingecko API for token data. Finally, we added a details element to house a searched token’s description and created a currentToken object to be used throughout. Added render function and token list now renders correctly when popular tokens are searched. Not all tokens are searchable.

November 2nd, 2021

We reviewed the design template for the token search tool and confirmed not all tokens are searchable at this time. Searching functionality will be reviewed before our submission. In addition, we finalized the idea of dedicating 70-80% space to search and 20-30% to the token bet slip. Tomorrow we plan to work further on the design and styling.

November 3rd, 2021

Reviewed ENS domains but concluded network fees are too high at this time to justify the expenditure.

November 4th, 2021

Today, Michael worked on moving some elements around and a bit of styling.

November 5th-7th

Finalized styling and token description section. Revised overall style organization for token icons and learn more legibility.
