Project Description

Tidal is an AI-powered DeFi yield management assistant that helps users find and execute yield strategies matched to their risk tolerance. Think of it as a personal financial advisor for consumer DeFi: users select a "depth" (Shallows for conservative, Mid-Depth for moderate, Deep Water for aggressive), and Tidal's AI agent recommends, explains, and executes yield opportunities through natural conversation.

Instead of navigating complex DeFi dashboards, users simply chat: "What can I earn on my USDC?" or "Swap my ETH and deposit to AAVE." Tidal handles token swaps via Li.Fi's universal routing layer (finding optimal rates across multiple DEXs), supplies assets to AAVE V3 and Morpho vaults, and tracks positions in real-time, all from a single conversational interface on Base.

How it's Made

Tidal is built with Next.js 16 and React 19 in a three-panel layout (sidebar, chat, dashboard). The AI agent runs on the Vercel AI SDK with Claude, using custom tools that call Li.Fi for token swaps and AAVE V3 for lending. Wallet authentication is handled by Privy with Coinbase Smart Wallet support, and all blockchain interactions use wagmi hooks and viem.

Li.Fi is the universal routing layer — every token swap is routed through Li.Fi to find optimal paths across DEXs. The AI agent calls Li.Fi's quote API, presents the route to the user, and executes the swap on approval. For multi-step strategies (like swapping ETH to USDC then supplying to AAVE), Li.Fi handles the first leg before the protocol deposit.

On-chain data is read live from AAVE V3 and ERC-4626 vault contracts via wagmi multicall hooks, giving users real-time APY rates and position tracking. The risk depth system filters which strategies the AI recommends, keeping conservative users in battle-tested protocols and unlocking higher-yield opportunities for those who want them.

The frontend uses Tailwind CSS v4 with a dark ocean theme, with a dashboard modeled off of Claude Cowork to give users a familiar and friendly interface to use. Everything runs on Base mainnet.
