Project Description

ThreadBet: Seamless Prediction Market Betting on Twitter

ThreadBet is a Chrome extension that enables frictionless betting on prediction markets directly within Twitter. When you're browsing Twitter and encounter a Polymarket link, ThreadBet automatically detects it and displays a compact, interactive popup—similar to Solana Blinks.

This popup presents a streamlined UI with quick action buttons, allowing you to place bets instantly without leaving Twitter. The entire experience is designed to be fast and intuitive, eliminating the need to navigate away from your feed.

The extension was developed in collaboration with KL's team, combining our vision of making prediction markets more accessible with their technical expertise. ThreadBet transforms how users engage with prediction markets by bringing the betting interface directly into their social media experience.

How it's Made

Technical Stack We built ThreadBet using a modern Chrome extension architecture with CRX as our primary framework, complemented by Shadcn UI for the interface components. This combination allowed us to rapidly prototype the extension's popup interface while maintaining a clean, consistent design system.

Architecture & Integration The extension leverages Chrome's content script injection to monitor Twitter's DOM for Polymarket links. When detected, we trigger a custom popup overlay that mimics the Solana Blinks UX pattern—providing users with immediate betting options without navigating away from their feed.

We integrated with KL's infrastructure for the backend prediction market data and transaction handling. This partnership was crucial as it allowed us to focus on the frontend experience while relying on their robust API for real-time market data and bet placement.

Challenges & Current Status While we successfully implemented the core link detection and popup rendering system, the project remains incomplete. We had ambitious plans for features like:

Real-time odds updates within the popup

Transaction confirmation flows

Wallet integration for seamless payments

Historical bet tracking

The tight hackathon timeline meant we had to prioritize the proof-of-concept over feature completeness. The CRX framework expedited our development, but we encountered challenges with Chrome's manifest V3 requirements and content security policies that limited some of our planned functionality.

Despite being unfinished, the project demonstrates the viability of bringing prediction markets directly into social media experiences through browser extensions.
