Project Description

In traditional blogging platforms like Medium, authors cannot be compensated when readers access content for free. A major hurdle is the lack of an effective anti-Sybil mechanism to prevent fraudulent behavior, such as authors creating thousands of fake accounts or using bots to artificially inflate their article views and earn revenue.

This is where World ID can make a difference. On Superium, authors have two options: they can either restrict access to paying users or allow World ID-verified users to read their content for free if they choose not to pay. Each time a World ID-verified user reads an article, one $ARTICLE token is minted and automatically transferred to the author’s wallet. While the precise tokenomics for $ARTICLE are not determined yet, this model offers a fair and transparent way to reward authors.

Additionally, leveraging the power of crypto and micropayments, readers have the flexibility to pay for individual articles without needing to commit to a platform-wide subscription. This ensures a more accessible and user-friendly experience for readers while giving authors the opportunity to earn revenue directly from their content.

How it's Made

We're using Connectkit's starter template which has Next.js/TypeScript and viem, which made spinning up the application so easy while providing the means to use passkey for web3 onboarding. We're also using the World ID to verify each non-paying reader of the articles is a unique person.
