When you first use Splitly, the onboarding is quick and easy. You sign in with your Discord account, and thanks to Web3Auth, the app automatically creates a crypto wallet for you in the background. There’s no need for complicated setup—you're ready to start paying with crypto right away.

Once you're ready to settle the bill at a participating restaurant, the restaurant generates a QR code containing a unique bill ID in the format splitly://{id}. You simply scan this QR code using the Splitly app. The app extracts the bill ID and then calls a smart contract to fetch all the details of the bill, including the items ordered and the total amount.

Each user can then review the bill and select the specific items they ordered, so they only pay for their portion of the meal. The app automatically calculates the total amount each person owes based on the items they’ve chosen. Once everyone has selected their items, Splitly ensures that each person’s balance is deducted from their wallet, so everyone pays exactly what they owe.

To ensure fair and accurate pricing, Splitly uses Chainlink’s price oracle to fetch real-time exchange rates between USDC and USD. This ensures that the app always shows the correct amount in crypto, regardless of fluctuations in the crypto market.

Finally, once all users have paid their share, the transaction is completed securely through the smart contract, and the restaurant receives the full payment. The entire process is seamless, transparent, and secure.
