PURPOSE

In a more and more NFT mature scene, holders are looking for trustable and easy accessible information about their NFT rarity compared to the entire collection.

HOW

While most of established NFT collections are storing their metadata on IPFS, with a single contract address (aka a collection) it is possible to prove decentralized and accurate information about an entire NFT collection but also to particular token ID holders.

For the sake of doability and readability, we chose to emphasize 3 major metrics for each token ID :

  • Average Rarity: Give a good global vision but doesn't put enough weight on extremely rare traits,

  • Statistical Rarity: Pretty accurate score but hardly readable by holders,

  • Rarest Trait: Interesting but put too much weight on extremely rare traits.

By making these 3 metrics easily accesible by token holders, we are fully using the potential of decentralized data on IPFS (trustable source) while giving better access to information to everyone.

WHY

  • The holders need a better access to the "real" value of their NFT compared to the entire collection,

  • The NFT creators shouldn't have to pay RarityTools/Sniper to use their algorithm to provide meaningful rarity analysis to their holders.

How it's Made

We use IPFS to fetch data of all the tokens of a collection and then calculate average rarity and other metrics and store the output on IPFS, so everyone can look at the result in a public way. We use AWS lambda and dynamo db to track the current state of fetching all tokens because IPFS times out very often but plan to make it completely decentral. PURPOSE
