Project Description

For NFT Hack, we wanted explored the idea of NFT art pieces that can be claimed by hackathon attendees.

  • We used the hackathon color palette as a starting point, and designed 4x art pieces in line with the Etheruem ethos.

  • We designed a website where an NFT Hack participant can sign with their Ethereum wallet, proving that the pariticipated in the hackathon (we know we can do this because everyone had to submit a 0.02 ETH stake). They then progress through the user flow and can claim their NFT. The NFTs are minted using the Zora protocol, so they can then be traded on external compatible marketplaces.

How it's Made

We were primarily a team of 2 designers. We wanted to:

  1. Explore generative art and novel ways to combine 2D and 3D art.

  2. See whether we could give art to people who participated in hackathon

The reason we thought this was possible was that we knew when we went to apply to NFT Hack, we had to stake 0.02 ETH. We found via Etherscan transaction all other people who staked for the event, so knew we might be able to use this in a trustless way.

To illustrate the NFT art and mockups:

We started with a moodboard and quick ideation sketches. Meanwhile we started to create a base scene in Cinema4D. In 3D, we modeled, light, and texture while working on the overall composition. We took final 3D renders from C4D and edited them in After Effects. From there, we took the 3D assets into Procreate to visualize 2D animation on top of the 3D models. We also explored taking 2D animation, exporting, and warping onto 3D scenes.

  • Cinema 4D.

  • Procreate.

  • Photoshop.

  • After Effects

  • Figma

To design the best product flow:

  • Looked into the Zora API.

  • Etherscan.

  • Metamask and WalletConnect.
