PayPerUse is a revolutionary decentralized marketplace that transforms how AI agents are built, shared, and monetized. Unlike traditional subscription-heavy AI platforms, PayPerUse creates an open ecosystem where developers can build modular AI microservices and users pay only for what they actually use.

The platform addresses critical pain points in today's AI landscape: expensive subscription models that lock users into platforms, lack of fair monetization for AI service contributors, and fragmented tools without reusable workflows. PayPerUse solves this by creating composable AI agents where each service is a self-contained microservice with defined inputs and outputs. Users can run agents directly through a chat UI or API, view detailed descriptions and costs upfront, and fund their wallets with PYUSD for seamless pay-per-use transactions. Developers can register new agents, set their own pricing, and receive automatic revenue sharing through CDP Wallet split logic powered by PayPal's stablecoin. The platform enables powerful workflow composition - users can chain agents together (like summarizer → translator → formatter) and even publish their custom workflows to the marketplace.

A standout feature is the integrated NFT Minting pipeline that demonstrates the platform's capabilities: it accepts user input, generates images via Amazon Bedrock, uploads to IPFS via Pinata, compiles metadata, and mints NFTs on Base - all orchestrated automatically with transparent per-step PYUSD pricing. The platform also includes Akash Chat for free, censorship-resistant AI assistance powered by decentralized LLMs.

How it's Made

PayPerUse is built as a full-stack Web3 application leveraging cutting-edge decentralized technologies for a truly composable AI ecosystem.

Frontend: Built with Next.js and TailwindCSS for a responsive, modern user experience that seamlessly handles wallet connections, agent interactions, and workflow composition.

Backend: Node.js and Express power the core API, integrated with the x402 Facilitator for micropayment infrastructure and Coinbase CDP Wallet SDK for seamless PYUSD transactions and automated revenue splitting.

Blockchain Layer: Deployed on Base for low-cost transactions, handling both PYUSD payments via x402 paywalls and NFT minting. The smart contract architecture enables automatic revenue distribution to agent creators using PayPal's PYUSD stablecoin for stable, predictable pricing.

AI & Compute: Amazon Bedrock provides access to multiple AI models (Claude, Mistral, Titan) for diverse agent capabilities, while Akash Network powers decentralized compute for the free Akash Chat feature using models like Meta LLaMA, DeepSeek, and Qwen.

Storage: All generated content (images, metadata, documents) is stored on IPFS via Pinata, giving users choice between public and private uploads while ensuring decentralized, verifiable asset storage.

Notable Technical Innovations:

The particularly hacky and notable aspect is the automated NFT pipeline orchestration - we created a meta-agent that coordinates multiple specialized agents (image generation, IPFS upload, metadata compilation, minting) while maintaining transparent PYUSD pricing for each step, all happening behind a single user interaction but with full visibility into the composable process and stable pricing thanks to PYUSD's peg to the US dollar.
