PayMee Web3

The easiest way to pay non Web3 people across chains — secure, seamless, multichain.

Project Description

Paymee enables freelancers to create secure, verifiable payment links that work across multiple blockchains. Using LayerZero’s OApp and OFT standards, Paymee allows a freelancer to set up a payment link denominated in their preferred token (e.g., ETH on Sepolia), which can be paid from another chain (e.g., Optimism) using wrapped token transfers.

The system ensures the freelancer defines how much they should be paid, in which token, and on which destination chain. The client receives a simple link and pays in their local token on their preferred network. Under the hood, LayerZero handles the secure cross-chain message passing and token bridging using OFT token adapters.

This simplifies global, decentralized freelancing by eliminating the need for clients and contractors to coordinate across fragmented ecosystems.

Core Features: • Multichain Payment Links: Freelancers generate unique links specifying amount, token, and destination chain. • Cross-Chain Settlement: Clients pay from different networks; freelancers receive funds on their preferred chain. • Secure & Verifiable: Powered by LayerZero’s secure OApp and OFT standards. • Token-Agnostic: Supports any ERC-20 token compatible with OFT adapters. • Decentralized: No intermediaries; peer-to-peer settlements across chains.

Example Flow: A freelancer requests payment in ETH on Sepolia. A client sees the Paymee link, pays from Optimism using OFT-wrapped tokens. The freelancer receives the funds automatically after LayerZero’s cross-chain execution.

How it's Made

Paymee leverages the latest LayerZero V2 infrastructure to enable seamless cross-chain payments. The backend consists of Solidity smart contracts built with Hardhat, integrating both OApp (Omnichain Application) and OFT (Omnichain Fungible Token) standards for secure message passing and token transfers.

We used the following technologies:

✅ LayerZero OApp & OFT: OApp enables sending messages across chains, while OFT handles token bridging, eliminating the need for centralized bridges or wrapped token tracking. This lets us pass both payment data and tokens in a single flow.

✅ Hardhat Development Stack: We used Hardhat for contract development, deployment, and local testing, running both Sepolia and Optimism testnets with custom scripts.

✅ ERC-20 Token Adapters: Existing ERC-20 tokens are made omnichain-compatible using OFT wrappers, allowing seamless token movement between Sepolia and Optimism without modifying token logic.

✅ Next.js Frontend : The frontend is being built with Next.js 19, connected to EVM wallets using wagmi/ethers, enabling freelancers to generate payment links and clients to interact cross-chain directly from their browser.

✅ Privy Integration: For user onboarding and optional proof-of-human verification, we integrated Privy for authentication. In a latter stage we will like to implement World ID to prevent sybil attacks in future iterations.
