Academic papers published on IPFS. Papers can link to each other using metadata, are versioned on Ceramic, and a smart contract can be used to fund research projects.
We are building an open platform for academic papers to be published and archived without censorship or hosting requirements. Classic publishing methods through journals are often subject to strict acceptance rules and readers may frequently encounter paywalls to access information. With this tool, papers can be published to IPFS and they store relationships and links to each other in metadata. Authors can also receive donations and funding through the platform.
This dApp uploads PDF papers directly to web3.storage and are retrieved from ipfs.dweb.link and displayed in an iframe. We save the paper metadata (such as title, author, description, references) in a smart contract deployed to Polygon. Since papers are heavily linked together, we use The Graph to index this contract state and give our UI more friendly data to work with.
