Project Description

OffGridX is a decentralized, peer-to-peer offline network enabling both crypto transfers and LLM inference without internet access. By forming a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh, smartphones can send signed ERC-20 transactions or AI prompts to nearby devices. When any device regains connectivity, it relays the signed data to blockchain or inference APIs — returning confirmations or outputs through the mesh.

This design allows open and proprietary AI models (like Mistral, Llama, or GPT) to be accessed offline, with all messages end-to-end encrypted and locally signed. OffGridX empowers communities in remote, censored, or disaster-affected areas to continue transacting and communicating with intelligence systems — without relying on the cloud.

Built using React Native + TypeScript for cross-platform performance and Redux Toolkit for mesh and wallet state management. The BLE mesh layer implements a custom gossip protocol for reliable message propagation, while a dual relayer system manages both on-chain submissions and LLM inference requests. On-device models run via TensorFlow Lite and GGUF loaders, while connected devices can act as Relayers using gRPC or REST APIs to access cloud LLMs or RPC endpoints. We implemented secure key storage, end-to-end encryption, and BLE message fragmentation to handle large payloads efficiently. Our innovation lies in merging decentralized financial and AI computation flows, creating a unified, offline-first network where money and intelligence flow without internet.
