Have you ever wanted to go to a hackathon but didn't want to travel alone? Were the hotels costly and the decision process intimidating? Well, we've got some good news for you! Nomad Hacker Club allows you to mint NFTs for your upcoming crypto conference and unlock exclusive accommodation perks which will foster community and make it cheaper to hack wherever you are. We're also looking forward to special experiences like intimate dinners and pre and post hackathon/conference activities. Picture hiking Montserrat with your crew in Barcelona! We believe that that intense experiences like hackathons and travel create the most vivid memories and strongest friendships, so Nomad Hacker Club wants to capture those memories in a form of a token that you can collect in your wallet that also unlocks an entire community of friends.
The project was designed with Figma and Canva and came to life through OpenSea. Originally, we planned to leverage Tatum NFT minter for batch minting and create a collection of OpenSea where a user could purchase these NFT's. We wanted to store metadata on IPFS but due to unforeseen issues with an API during the day, we had to pivot to minting on OpenSea. We minted 6 unique images on Polygon themed to upcoming crypto conference locations and set the quantity to 100 items for each one for this batch. The technologies we looked into all had simple and straightforward APIs and the support teams were extremely helpful. For claiming perks and registering for special events that we would offer through this NFT community, we would use Premint to verify is someone holds a particular NFT in their wallet. With the second wind of energy long after midnight, we were actually able to mint these 6 individual NFT's through Tatum as well on Polygon, storing data on IPFS. If we had to do the project again, we would only pick one and we would build a front end to allow users to mint the NFT directly. While the idea is simple, this was a first hackathon for all of us, we learned a lot and this was the first time our team attempted to mint an NFT!
