Project Description
Memento Machina is a platform where artists can launch their own generative or AI-powered NFT collections, and collectors get to mint one-of-a-kind pieces. Each collection starts with an artist’s prompt or algorithm, and when you mint, you add your own idea or word—so every NFT is a mix of the artist’s vision and your personal touch.
All the art and info is stored on decentralized storage, so it’s built to last. The money from minting goes into a DeFi vault that helps pay for storage over time, keeping the collection alive and accessible.
As more artists join and new collections drop, Memento Machina becomes a growing archive—a real snapshot of what AI art can do at different moments in time. It’s all about collaboration, creativity, and making sure digital art sticks around for the long haul.
How it's Made
We built Memento Machina to be fully decentralized from the start. The core smart contracts run on Flow’s EVM-compatible blockchain for fast, low-cost transactions and are written in Solidity. These contracts handle minting, dynamic pricing, and NFT generation.
For storage, we use Swarm—a decentralized, incentivized network—so every NFT image and its metadata are permanently hosted without relying on centralized servers. Hardhat helped us develop, test, and deploy everything smoothly across Flow’s testnet and mainnet.
The frontend uses Wagmi and RainbowKit for easy wallet connections. When someone mints, the contract triggers AI to generate the image, uploads it to Swarm, and updates the frontend in real time.
To keep storage truly permanent, we built SwarmVault—a smart contract on Gnosis Chain that automatically manages Swarm storage payments. It receives funds from Flow (via bridge) or direct xDAI deposits, monitors storage balances, and tops up when needed. Anyone can contribute, and all transactions are transparent and logged on-chain.
The end result: a robust, future-proof platform with no single point of failure—art and data on Swarm, contracts on Flow, and storage funded and managed automatically on Gnosis.
