LEMON JUICE

Introducing Feed Takeover Rights to enable a decentralised advertising primitive on Farcaster

Project Description

LEMON JUICE creates a market around the right to take over another user's feed. We believe that this is an extremely interesting primitive on which to build advertising mechanics that are not possible on centralised social media platforms. Currently, the high transaction costs that occur in advertising in web2 result in centralised power, low transparency, and missed revenue. Through the feed takeover right, LEMON JUICE introduces a decentralised alternative that enables one user to submit a message through another user's social account. We believe that this will provide the foundation for a totally novel market within the Farcaster ecosystem, and can grow into a comprehensive decentralised advertising ecosystem.

How it's Made

This project utilises Frog frameworks to build out a series of Frame pages (repo: frames). The first Frame asked the user to check if they have an "FTR" token (we used a Zora 1155 on Base for this hack), utilising Airstack Frog middleware to create an allowlist based on the user holding the FTR token. If the user does not have an FTR then they are directed to a Frame that provides a hyperlink to mint the token. If the user is on the allowlist then they can proceed to the next Frame, in which they can submit the text for a Cast. After confirmation, the Cast text is then posted via Neynar API to the LEMON JUICE Farcaster client.

The LEMON JUICE Farcaster (repo: Ftr) client allows a user to authorise a signer to sign casts on their behalf. Which it does so when the text for a Cast is sent to it from the Frames flow.
