The world's most flexible insurance platform built around real-time policy premium payments.
Instream aims to tackle the inflexibility of insurance policies by providing a platform to pay for insurance live from a cryptocurrency wallet in one-second increments. If the wallet runs out of funds or the insured cancels the policy, the policy is instantly cancelled and collateral is unlocked back to insurers. Anyone can be an insurer in an Instream wallet, including the policyholder. The amount of collateral an insurer has in their wallet determines how much of the premium they have access to, and the share of the vote they have in approving claims. Insurers can withdraw premium payments at any time.
The project is built using Superfluid's asset streaming protocol and Solidity. The platform is powered by a core smart contract (see Github) with a set of functions which enable the two-way insurance marketplace. Insurers can pay collateral into wallets, view details on the policy and withdraw collateral. Insured individuals set up an agreement to continually pay into the wallet. The front end is built in react.js and designed in Figma. I was also told to include coffee in the tech stack.
