ZK-powered identity and payments to unlock subsidies for refugees in LATAM.
IDCOM is a digital identity and payments system that helps refugees and displaced people in LATAM access essential goods with privacy and dignity. Using zero-knowledge proofs, individuals can prove their vulnerable condition without revealing personal data. Through the Essential Store marketplace, validated users automatically receive discounts from partnered producers. Payments are handled through an X42-based wallet that allows fast, low-cost transactions and enables building a privacy-preserving credit score based on real payment activity. Our goal is to make access to food and essentials fair, private, and inclusive for the millions of people currently excluded from financial systems in the region.
We built IDCOM using a combination of zero-knowledge proofs, decentralized identity standards, and fast payment rails. For onboarding and identity verification, we use Self/Privy to issue verifiable credentials that can be proved on-device without exposing user data. The ZK proof verifies refugee or vulnerability status, which triggers on-chain discount eligibility inside the Essential Store marketplace. The payment layer is powered by X42, enabling quick, low-fee payments that can be performed directly from a browser wallet. The frontend is a lightweight Next.js app, while the backend and proof verification flow integrate Polygon/Rootstock infrastructure for settlement. We designed a seamless QRbased flow to generate proofs, activate subsidies, and complete purchases.
