Hyperion

The Hyperion Team is fully committed to public goods. As we prepare for the Gitcoin Citizens round and GG20 we see tremendous potential to leverage Farcaster. Our project is building a Frames template that allows projects to ‘shill’ and get vonations (vote+donation).

Project Description

The Hyperion Team's project, part of the Frameworks Hackathon, is a public goods initiative named after the seminal science fiction novel "Hyperion" by Dan Simmons. This choice of name is deeply symbolic, reflecting the project's ambition to bridge communities and technologies in the Gitcoin ecosystem, much like the Farcasters in Simmons' universe enable instantaneous travel across distant worlds. The novel, celebrated for its intricate narrative and profound exploration of themes such as time, religion, and humanity's place in the cosmos, mirrors the team's goal to integrate within the fabric of digital public goods and community engagement. Here's a detailed breakdown of the project and its features:

Objective: To bolster community engagement and "vonations" [vote+donation] for GG 20 and Gitcoin Citizens participants by providing a dynamic and interactive way to present projects on Gitcoin, thereby encouraging donations and participation.

Target Audience: The template is intended for use by projects seeking funding through Gitcoin and Citizens of the Gitcoin ecosystem looking to support these projects.

Template Features

  1. Customizable Project Image: Projects can personalize the template by adding their own images, making each project's presentation unique and visually appealing. This customization allows projects to maintain their brand identity while utilizing the template.

  2. Interactive Buttons: The template includes four interactive buttons, each serving a distinct purpose to enhance the user experience and engagement with the project.

    • Gitcoin Vonation Button: This button directs users to the project's Gitcoin page, facilitating easy access for potential donors to contribute to the project. It simplifies the donation process, encouraging more users to contribute

    • Gitcoin Passport Button: By allowing users to view their Gitcoin Passport score, this button emphasizes the importance of impactful contributions. It ensures that users are aware of their influence within the ecosystem, potentially motivating higher quality contributions.

    • Quadratic Funding Education Button: This button is designed to educate users about the concept of quadratic funding. By providing insights into how their contributions are amplified through this funding mechanism, it aims to demystify the process and encourage more informed participation.

    • NFT Minting Button: As a reward for contributing, this button enables users to mint an NFT. This feature not only serves as an incentive for donations but also adds a tangible value to the act of contributing, fostering a deeper sense of community and participation.

Impact and Potential

By making this template available at no cost, it allows projects to leverage the engagement and community that want to support Gitcoin projects. The inclusion of educational elements and incentives (like quadratic funding) not only enhances the user experience but also fosters a more informed and engaged community. This project has the potential to significantly impact the way projects are presented and supported within the Gitcoin ecosystem, driving both visibility and donations through an innovative and user-friendly interface.

How it's Made

The project uses various tools that have been created to build on Farcaster and it also leverages Base to do the minting. The thinking on how this is built is keeping in mind we want projects to use the template to "shill' their projects.

We've started with a template from onchainkit https://github.com/Zizzamia/a-frame-in-100-lines. This is NextJS under the hood, with a couple of tweaks. It's built in two steps. One for the initial frame and one for all the navigation, controlled with api/frame. The initial page, requests gitcoin graphql api to get the banner image of the grant and use it.

A state is maintained on the frame to keep the original URL to allow sending the user to the gitcoin grant page as well as rendering the image. As well as controlling the page the user is in.

The passport is a static page that was intended to show the current user gitcoin passport score.

The mint button interacts with a simple ERC721 that mints an NFT on base chain.
