HelloScroll

This app shows the potential of L2 rollups like Arbitrum & privacy L2s like Scroll. It uses Scroll for secure message sending on a testnet, and Arbitrum for low-cost storage/retrieval on its testnet. Together they enable private, affordable messaging not possible before.

Project Description

This project utilizes Scroll and Arbitrum stylus to build an application that allows sending, storing, and retrieving messages securely and at low cost. The message sending functionality is deployed on Scroll's Scroll Sepolia testnet, while message storage and retrieval are deployed on Arbitrum's Arbitrum Sepolia testnet. By leveraging these two solutions, the application enables private and low-cost messaging, which was difficult to achieve before. The privacy protections of Scroll and the low fees of Arbitrum make enjoyable chat possible.

How it's Made

Scroll's approach to privacy protects users' data and messaging history. Messages are encrypted end-to-end, shielding contents from third parties. Arbitrum rollups greatly reduce gas fees compared to L1 networks. Storing and retrieving messages from its Sepolia testnet is drastically cheaper. Together, these technologies allow us to build a communication application with strong privacy safeguards and minimal costs. Users can enjoy secure messaging without high fees or surveillance. This demonstrates the potential of layer 2 rollups like Arbitrum and privacy-centric L2s like Scroll to enable new user experiences and apps not possible on mainnets before.
