I am a Senior Innovation Engineer at Fugro, which is a GeoData specialist in the Netherlands and currently uses AWS for a lot of our operations data. This Geodata comes in the form of MetaOcean data, Video Recordings of inspections, bathymetry data, SLAM data to name a few. I would like to expose our operation to decentralized storage options. Beyond just storage, using FEVM we can manage the access of these data sets and better monetize them through our clients. The fact that we can do all this at a fraction of the costs of centralized systems and in a more secure/reliable way is what I think will be the initial USP of the project.

The project will provide a simple web interface to upload files to the Filecoin network . Since the data needs to be secure we need to first encrypt (via Lighthouse?) the data before we store it. I also intend to provide user configuration regarding who has access to the data. Since security is one of the biggest concerns I would like to offer various encryption options. Finally, I would like to make a one-to-one real-world comparison of using S3 vs Filecoin in terms of cost, speed of retrieval and reliability.
