Flocking

Flocking is a decision tree-based tool designed to help users navigate the complexities of the Web3 ecosystem through an engaging and interactive experience.

With Flocking, users can delve into insights from on-chain activities, along with off-chain relevant questions, and receive tailored suggestions for tokens, DAOs, and communities to consider. The application achieves this by comparing various users’ activities and offering branching choices aligned with individual goals, such as education, onboarding, or grant funding.

As users answer questions and explore resources, they unlock pieces of a puzzle, assembling a customized strategy that tracks their progress, provides clear guidance and rewards their achievements.

Flocking simplifies decision-making and enhances discoverability in the Web3 space, transforming the process into a fun and memorable adventure.

We began hoping to solve a collective problem, aiming to create a playful and useful solution to combat discovery fatigue.

In the Flocking application, we analyze wallet data to determine what communities the user is part of. Users can search any wallet address and Blockscout will analyze on-chain data. This benefited our project goal of determining next steps based on current tokens held, and the search function maintains security for users who may not yet want to connect their wallet but still gain valuable insights to combat decision fatigue.

Users can seamlessly connect their using Web3Auth. For new users, we wanted a familiar Web2 experience and enabled logging in with your email, phone number, or social network, thanks to our seamless Web3Auth integrations. We are passionate about bringing the next billion users to Web3 with less decision fatigue, and Web3Auth makes it incredibly easy to use crypto without feeling like there is an educational barrier in terms of creating a wallet.

Once logged in, we utilized ENS for users to join the flocking community on-chain. There is the option to create a username and receive a username.flocking.ETH subdomain. We wanted to make sure that users had proof-of-Flocking and to implement `SocialFi aspects so you can find friends by their username and compare insights and suggestions. ENS helped us realize the social aspects of our proof-of-concept.

Flocking analyzes with Blockscout to uncover onchain activities and tokens. This can be done for either a connected wallet or any wallet address put into the search function. Leveraging these data insights, along with answers to curated questions, Flocking suggests communities aligned with a users’ interests.

In our proof-of-concept, we integrated the Nouns documentation which allowed us to showcase users’ NFT collections and images directly within the app. We want to expand the Nouns ecosystem and make it as easy as possible for new users to understand the communities they engage with.

Our Method

• Ideation and Purpose: We united around a common goal, driven by the desire to create an engaging tool that addresses the challenge of discovery fatigue.

• Iteration and Design: We extensively explored various use cases, gamified user experiences, and the appropriate tech stack. This phase involved continuous iteration to refine our ideas and approaches.

• Mockups and Research: We developed detailed mockups and conducted in-depth research on Blockscout's APIs and ENS, WebAuth and Nouns documentation.

• Coding and Documentation: We implemented the project by coding the core features and meticulously documenting the process.

• Demo Preparation: Our final step was to prepare a comprehensive demo showcasing our results and findings. This demo highlights the functionality and benefits of our solution, providing a clear overview of what we achieved.
