Edging

Edging is a mobile-first, real-time intelligence platform designed to give crypto and financial traders a decisive market advantage. The core philosophy of the project is that reacting to market-moving events is more effective than trying to predict market trends.

The platform tackles this by providing users with two key streams of information:

Instant News Alerts: It delivers breaking news from the financial and crypto sectors directly to the user's device.

Filtered Social Insights: It monitors key influencers and personalities on X (formerly Twitter), sending alerts whenever they mention a specific crypto asset or token.

Furthermore, for each piece of news or insight, the platform suggests a directly related asset to act upon. For example, if a partnership between a major company and a specific blockchain is announced, Edging will highlight that blockchain's native token as the asset to watch or trade.

Crucially, Edging integrates trading functionality directly into the alert system. When a user receives an insight, they can immediately act on it by swapping, longing, or shorting the relevant asset with leverage, all within the app. This seamless "insight-to-trade" workflow is designed to capitalize on the small windows of opportunity that news and social sentiment create.

Edging is a full-stack application built with a modern, modular tech stack designed for real-time data processing and decentralized finance (DeFi) integration.

Frontend: The mobile application is built using React Native with the Expo framework, allowing for a cross-platform experience on both iOS and Android from a single codebase.

Backend & Data Scraping: The backend services are containerized using Docker Compose and managed by Coolify on a Virtual Private Server (VPS). For data acquisition, the platform uses:

Playwright: To scrape X for crypto mentions from key accounts, utilizing rotating proxies to ensure reliability.

RSS Feeds: The TreeOfAlpha RSS feed is used for aggregating breaking financial news.

AI/LLM : Groq API with LLAMA3.1 as provider

Blockchain & DeFi Integration: The trading and wallet infrastructure is built on several key partner technologies to create a seamless Web3 experience:

Wallet & Onboarding: Privy is integrated to handle user onboarding and wallet management, simplifying the process for new users.

Blockchain: The application operates on Katana L2, a Layer-2 scaling solution chosen for its deep liquidity and low transaction fees, which are critical for trading.

Trading Protocols: The in-app trading functionality is powered by two leading DeFi protocols:

Sushiswap for token swaps.

Vertex Protocol for perpetuals trading (long/short positions with leverage).

This architecture allows Edging to scrape real-time data, push it to the mobile app, and enable users to execute trades on-chain efficiently and at a low cost.
