since the mental model of card-based payments, such as credit cards, is well-established among people, it can significantly lower the barriers to onboarding onto crypto.
In this hackathon, we focused on the use case of granting subsidies to victims in times of disaster and created a prototype.
The use case is such that even if there is no battery left in smartphones after a disaster, as long as one has the card, it is possible to prove that they are a resident of the affected area and, based on that proof, receive subsidies.
In this demo, we anticipate a scenario where UNICEF staff travel to disaster-affected areas to distribute subsidies to the local residents.
The residents do not have smartphones, only possessing ID cards, while the staff are equipped with smartphones that have internet access.
By holding the ID card up to unisef staff s ldevice and entering a password, the residents can generate signature and proof. During this process, a selective disclosure proof is generated. This proof is then used to query and verify against EAS. If the proof is correct, for instance, it can verify that the individual is a resident of the disaster area, then a predetermined amount of ETH set by UNICEF will be granted to the resident's wallet.
Of course, if the person resides in an area that is not targeted for assistance, the transaction will not succeed.
We build the iOS app that can interact with Arx NFC card to generate signatures to use their AA wallet and to generate proofs for attestation and selective disclousure.
