DeFold

DeFold enables users to securely upload their sequenced genomic data on-chain and list it on a marketplace where interested buyers can run compute queries over it without accessing the underlying data. This project emerged in response to recent data breaches, like the 23andMe incident which affected 7 million people, highlighted the need for more secure genomic data infrastructure. DeFold aims to bridge the funding gap between academia and the biotech industry by creating a resource distribution pipeline. It allows researchers to monetize their sequenced data, sustaining their research independently while fostering innovation. By providing a secure, decentralized marketplace for genomic data, DeFold establishes a symbiotic relationship between academia and the startup ecosystem, accelerating breakthroughs in personalized medicine and genetic research while maintaining data privacy and data security.

Authentication: For authentication DeFold leverages @worldcoin for proof of humanity which allows them to login, Users are greeted with playful Nouns artwork upon successful authentication.

Home Screen: Presents two primary options: Access the DeFold marketplace to buy genomic data, Upload personal genomic data to sell.

Loading Screens: Feature animated Nouns artwork to create a relaxed atmosphere. Aim to alleviate stress which bioinformatics is known to cause;)

Data Upload (Sell) Flow: Users choose "Upload to Sell" Prompted to upload their genomic dataset. Data is encrypted and securely stored on the Sapphire blockchain by @Oasis Protocol. Sapphire blockchain chosen for its robust privacy features, crucial for sensitive genomic information and they are also rewarded with a NounsDAO artwork for their contributions to the knowledge tree.

DeFold Marketplace (Buy) Flow: Users browse available genomic datasets. Only dataset descriptions and metadata are visible. Raw data remains private. Buyers select datasets based on provided information. Users choose specific queries or computations to run on the selected dataset. After query selection, users initiate the transaction. Query is executed on the encrypted data without exposing raw information. Results are returned to the buyer. Buyer completes the payment transaction Post-Transaction: Researchers (data sellers) receive payment for their data contributions. Buyers are prompted to review data quality, contributing to a reputation system for future uploads
