We have the ambition to create the first decentralised additive fabrication infrastructure. We want to combine the availability of everyday 3d printers with a crypto-fueled marketplace. Our general idea is:1. one could create unique 3d prints, that people can invest on with fractionalised investment, that are printed automatically to the 3d printer closest to you - 2. one can publish a design that is improved upon by others, incentivising the designers to work collaboratively, 3. the fabricators receive part of the rewards for doing a good execution of a print via a validation of the print mechanism....
We have explored three different approaches, fragmenting the Gcode files, encrypting (potentially with Nillion or sign) and then distributing the files unto the marketplace. We had trouble though setting up everything on the raspberry pi we are using, so we did not seriously progress beyond the conceptual level. We perhaps should have broken down our project into a simpler proof of concept...
