We present a Decentralized Portal for Courts, built utilizing Portis and Filecoin, that provides a secure and immutable platform for the storage of evidence along with real-time video calling facilities for court hearings. The project aims to address several issues faced by the traditional court system, including political interference, protection of witnesses, cost savings, and a step towards digitalization.

This portal leverages the benefits of blockchain technology to provide a tamper-proof storage of evidence, ensuring that the evidence presented in court cannot be altered or manipulated. Additionally, the portal utilizes the Live Peer decentralized video streaming protocol to provide real-time video calling facilities for court hearings. This eliminates the need for physical presence in the court, enabling remote participation in court proceedings.

The Decentralized Portal for Courts provides several benefits, including protection of witnesses, cost savings, and a step towards digitalization. In criminal cases, witnesses can give their statements from a safe location approved by the judge, such as a nearby e-court room or the IT cell of the district magistrate's office. In civil cases, the witness can provide their testimony from the comfort of their own home. Additionally, the transportation of inmates for court hearings is costly and can be avoided through the use of this portal, saving millions of dollars.

The portal also ensures that the police FIR and medical report are available to the judge prior to the hearing, enabling them to make informed decisions. Moreover, the decentralized nature of the portal eliminates the possibility of political interference, ensuring that the court proceedings are impartial and fair.

No particularly "hacky" solutions were used in the development of this project. All technologies used in this project were integrated in a straightforward manner, providing a seamless user experience for the Decentralized Portal for Courts. The use of sponsor technologies, such as Livepeer, push, lighthouse,spheron has greatly benefited the project by providing secure and efficient solutions for user authentication and access management, and for the storage of evidence and real-time video calling facilities for court hearings.
