Empowering Your Image: A New Era of Personal Visual Agency

In an increasingly documented world, our lives are constantly captured by cameras, smart glasses, and ubiquitous surveillance. Every public appearance, every casual stroll, every private event moment risks becoming a permanent digital record, often without our knowledge or consent. This isn't just a matter of privacy; it's a fundamental erosion of our personal agency over our own image. We stand at a critical juncture: who truly owns your face when it's captured in someone else's video or photo, especially when that image can be manipulated into hyper-realistic deepfakes capable of damaging reputations or spreading misinformation? Current solutions, from vague consent forms to tiny blinking lights on recording devices, simply aren't enough to empower individuals.

Introducing Consentoi: Your Digital Image Guardian Consentoi is a groundbreaking World App mini-app designed to fundamentally shift control back to the individual. We're building a revolutionary privacy layer that empowers you to manage your visual identity in real-time, wherever you are. Our initial focus is on private events like hackathons, weddings, conferences, or corporate gatherings, where countless photos and videos are taken, but explicit consent for each individual is rarely obtained/loosely enforced. Imagine attending an event knowing that your privacy preferences are being respected by every camera. Consentoi makes this a reality. When another person using our app captures you, your face is automatically detected and blurred, directly on their device, before the image is even saved. This isn't just about obscuring; it's about proactive consent embedded into the very act of capture.

Seamless Control & Ethical Monetization At the heart of Consentoi is your ability to define precisely how your image is handled. Through an intuitive settings interface, you can set your privacy preferences: perhaps you always want your face blurred in evenets. Or, for commercial use, you can set a clear boundary. If a photographer at an event wants to use your unblurred image for promotional material, our app facilitates a secure, on-chain transaction. Because both parties verify their identities using World ID, consent becomes explicit and auditable. You can even set a compensation rate for the commercial use of your image. If the photographer agrees to your terms, a seamless payment is initiated. Upon successful transaction, the original, unblurred image becomes accessible to them, ensuring ethical and value-driven content creation. This system means your image is not just protected; it can also be a source of value, putting you firmly in control of its distribution and commercial exploitation.

Beyond Events: A Future of True Image Sovereignty Our MVP demonstrates this powerful concept within the manageable context of private events, paving the way for broader applications. We envision a future where this technology extends to all facets of life: from ensuring child privacy in schools and playgrounds, to safeguarding sensitive content on adult entertainment platforms, and providing consent mechanisms for street photography or vlogging. Consentoi isn't just an app; it's a foundational step towards stronger digital image sovereignty, where your face truly belongs to you.

How it's Made

World ID-Gated Access: Mandatory World ID verification for full app access, ensuring authenticated identity for all users.

  • Face Detection & Blurring
    • Real-time face detection using face-api.js
    • Automatic face blurring for privacy
    • Support for multiple faces in a single image
    • High-precision face recognition
    • Storage on superbase db connecting face to world Id and privacy settings (not ideal since that negates the privacy ensuring features, however, the idea is that this would be replaced with zkp of the human face.
  • Payment System
    • Smart contract-based payment processing
    • ETH-based payments for unblurring faces
    • Secure transaction handling
  • Privacy Controls
    • Configurable privacy settings
    • Automatic face blurring
    • Payment-based access control
    • Data retention management (feature to be further developed in the future)
  • Secure Unblurring Process: Upon successful payment, the recorder's app is allowed to display/save the unblurred image.
  • Local Storage of Blurred Content: Your own recordings (with applied privacy settings) are saved directly to your device's native gallery.
