Project Description

NFT projects live and die by the strength of their community.

What do projects do? As they build towards the collection drop, they buy bots. They pay influencers. They pay people for retweets with allow list spots. Then the NFT collection sells out and social media activity goes down. Usually together with the token price. Few projects manage to keep up the level of community engagement on social media and all the projects underutilize their community. They say they have to focus on building the product but the reality is that they have to be nurturing the community and growing the brand IP while providing value to holders. Ad usually they just don’t have the resources to do all of it at the same time.
Content is king. Most marketers agree that content marketing and specifically user-generated content is the best way to keep the attention on a project. COMMADS is a tool that allows NFT projects to reward the content creators within the community who are already familiar with the project and committed to its success. Project creators post tasks for their community on COMMADS. They specify the platform (the current version of the prototype is geared towards Twitter but all platforms can be added), the project creators describe the kind of content that they feel is needed and provide a pool of funding for creators. Creators post content and submit links through the platform. An algorithm scrapes data related to the post from the social media platform and calculates a virality score based on the number of shares, comments, likes, and impressions proportional to the number of the creator’s followers. The virality score is communicated to COMMADS through an oracle which triggers a payment that can be then claimed by the creator. The current prototype of COMMADS is focused on the NFT use case as it’s a natural fit with the existing web3 community but the model can be applied to any business or project that relies on content marketing.

How it's Made

This project is a platform for NFT Project founders to reward community members for creating viral content on social media. The front-end was React and NextJs; the Solidity smart contracts were built, deployed, and tested with hardhat; the sponsored tech used was Graph, Wallet Connect, Polygon, and Chainlink. Once on the Commads website, users access their wallets via Wallet Connect. On their dashboard, NFT Project Founder can launch a pool through a solidity smart contract. Community members can submit a link to the content they created for specific pools. The authenticity of the content's virality is validated with the Chainlink oracle. Commads developed a metric, using Chainlink, called Virality Score. Its purpose is to compare against all content submitted to a pool and validate virality. The metric is used to reward users with a proportion of the pool's bounty. Both users can view dashboard metrics of the pool analytics and content engagement with Graph. To keep gas fees low, Commads uses Polygon to avoid high gas fees.
