Cinema.fi: A crypto solution for indie film funding. We turn frames, sequences, and scenes from funded films into NFT’s as a way to raise money for movie production, while giving the benefactor the ability to own a part of the movie they funded.
When it comes to the motion picture market, funding for indie films is incredibly underserved. The film industry is worth an estimated $95.45 billion, with indie films accounting for just over 7% of that total amount. There is a lack of funding for these projects, and current solutions for indie film funding is not optimal. Studio films rank at the top of investment charts and sites like Indigo have a stigma that drives investors away. There are very few incentives for people outside of the film industry to fund dynamic projects.
Our solution is to incentivize the funding of indie films. We do this by allowing the benefactor to own different parts of the film and its success using the blockchain. Through Cinema.fi, creators and investors will grow the indie film industry and create fruitful, lasting partnerships.
So how does it work? An indie film maker will come to Cinema.fi and post their idea and layout of their film. The post will be publicly housed on the site with their fundraise goal listed. Investors will be able to review each post and select which movie they would like to fund. In exchange for funding, investors will gain access to own frames, sequences, or scenes from the movie.
As a deep dive, once invested one will gain a token based on the amount given. The higher the investment, the higher the value of the token. That token will be held until the film’s completion. Once the film is complete, the fun begins. A token holder will receive a frame of the film they funded as an NFT. Holding these NFT’s will have value based on the ‘value’ of the scene.
Additionally, post production frames can still be purchased. Enthusiasts can view films and if any frames are available, they have the opportunity to invest post production. This also leads into secondary market opportunities. Trading and selling of the NFT’s can continue on the open market and will include a fee that will be split between the filmmaker and Cinema.fi.
From the indie film drawing board to post production success, Cinema.fi is here to help even the smallest creator find success.
