CarStack

Odometer fraud is the disconnection, resetting, or alteration of a vehicle’s odometer with the intent to change the number of miles indicated. NHTSA estimates that more than 450,000 vehicles are sold yearly with false odometer readings. This crime costs American car buyers more than $1 billion annually. CarStack will provide the necessary bridge from blockchain to the physical that allows vehicle owners and users to manage access control, confirm ownership history, log key life events, and interact with the vehicle in the connected mobility ecosystem.

Using ZKPs to share data while keeping the vehicle owner's privacy, we implemented CarStack using the Mina protocol and SnarkyJS to implement the Smart Contract. This early version is packaged as an npm library, available as 'car-stack' in npmjs, for easy deployment on a serverless platform. The code implements a basic UI with integration to the Auro Wallet for auth and account management purposes. UI is a mix of HTML with TailwindUI. We could not finish the integration with IPFS for long-term data storage. That will be a great next step for us.
