Archivault

Museums collection management tool with blockchain-based storage

Archivault

Project Description

Users can instantly create new record entries by simply taking a photo of an object. This feature eliminates the need for manual data entry, making it incredibly easy to start building a comprehensive digital catalog.

Entries can be started and saved for later, with folders to organize pending entries, all entries, and then sorting by exhibits that those artifacts have been a part of.

How it's Made

As students new to web3 development, we chose React as our frontend framework. This allowed us to break down our complex UI into manageable pieces for photo capture, AI analysis, and collection management. We focused on creating a minimum viable product where a user could create an entry based on an uploaded photo and then enter information into predefined fields.

We used tailwind in order to make the front end prettier. One of us was entirely new to web development and the other was still mostly new. We tried to use Dynamic.xyz for authentication and to create a wallet that was abstracted for the user that is not familiar with blockchain. However, we ran into a lot of issues with TypeScript dependencies and were not able to implement it.
