Project Description

Android dApp Store is a decentralized marketplace for Android applications built to resist government or corporate censorship.

By leveraging blockchain-based storage, decentralized hosting, and DAO governance, it ensures that developers can distribute and update their apps without relying on centralized intermediaries.

Users retain full access and control, even if apps are delisted from traditional platforms.

The store emphasizes transparency, open discovery, and community moderation over regulatory gatekeeping, protecting innovation and user choice in an increasingly restricted digital landscape.

How it's Made

The Android dApp Store is built using smart contracts on Ethereum and IPFS as decentralized storage solution for hosting app metadata and apk files. Access control and moderation rely on DAO-based voting using tools like Safe and Snapshot. The front end is built with React and connects via MetaMask to authenticate developers.

App listings, ratings, and updates are all recorded on-chain, ensuring immutability and censorship resistance. The system uses decentralized gateways and content-addressed hashes so users can always retrieve apps directly, even if individual nodes go offline.
