🔧 How It’s Made Alpha Break is a privacy-first, AI-inspired desktop dApp designed to intelligently detect when you're running low on energy — and reward you with an NFT when you take a strategic break. It merges local behavior analytics, confidential smart contracts on Oasis Sapphire, and fun, visual rewards to encourage smarter wellness habits. 🖥 Electron Desktop App We chose Electron to wrap our app in a native shell. This gives us:

Access to typing, scrolling, mouse activity (without browser limitations)

Ability to trigger break popups that take over focus

Persistent storage for behavior baselining using localStorage

Frontend lives in index.html, while logic is handled in renderer.js and Electron’s main.js.

🧠 Local AI-Like Behavior Engine Rather than one-size-fits-all timers, Alpha Break watches you:

Tracks real-time keyboard/mouse/scroll events

Builds a personal energy baseline based on your actual performance

Triggers prompts when your activity drops below your normal, not some made-up productivity ideal

This behavior is analyzed entirely on-device, never uploaded or tracked. Think of it as your own wellness co-pilot.

🔐 Oasis Sapphire Confidential Contract To enhance trust and privacy, we offload some decisions to a confidential smart contract on Oasis Sapphire:

shouldPromptBreak(idleSeconds, typingSpeed) securely decides if a break is needed

The contract runs inside an encrypted Oasis runtime

Inputs are never visible to validators or on-chain observers

This is a major privacy upgrade compared to any cloud-based solution

🦁 NFT Rewards via MetaMask + Thirdweb When you confirm the break, a mint screen opens:

Wallet connects via MetaMask

Minting is handled via Thirdweb SDK on Base Sepolia

A random Alpha Lion NFT is minted and sent to the user

Each NFT is a visual pat on the back — a collectible reward for choosing to rest smart.

We created 20 unique Alpha Lion images that represent the idea of pragmatic rest and strategic energy

Stored locally in assets/lions/ and randomly picked at break time

Minted only if the user truly rests and confirms it

Canva AI gave us fast, high-quality visuals without the need for custom illustration work.
