The goal was to live premiere a short indie film “Pal-bot 2” - for a certain duration - using a completely decentralized video stream. We wanted to see if sponsor's "LivePeer" technology would be a good fit - for our startup "Ahoy Indie Media" - as we, as a company, have arrived at crossroads with our streaming decision. - Part of the Ethos of our company is to provide free indie media company - from actual artists - directly to audience - without the need of ads, follows, likes, or Amazon's creepy clinch - thus a decentralized video streaming service seemed to be the holy grail - and quickly superseded any other hack ideas - for hackathon or no hackathon - we are happy to have met the team of LivePeer and are excited to use their technology.
Using the Livepeer infrastructure we were able to create a new - decentralized video stream - pump such stream’s key into OBS to have it broadcast the feed towards a custom HLS player found on an existing webflow website.
Using webflow, we were able to a journey for users to access the content : A start screen with the film time, description and live button - that led users directly into the video feed at the correct time slot.
Using team member - Alex Gonzalez’s obs stream - we were able to play the movie and broadcast it to the correct channels - pretty seamlessly.
