Aegis protocol introduce a Escape Smart Contract ensures Layer 2 resilience by safeguarding assets during sequencer failures. It halts operations, enables asset recovery/migration to Layer 1, and includes an insurance pool to protect staked funds. Enhancing trust in L2s.
The Aegis Protocol, a Escape Smart Contract is a contingency mechanism for Layer 2 blockchain solutions, ensuring asset safety during sequencer failures. Snapshot is taken every 100 blocks, submitting a merkle tree for inclusion, as an attestation.
The contract halts operations, references the latest Merkle tree snapshot and price of the time from the graph for accurate user balances. For all the unlocked ETH and Erc20s, it first performs a swap on the L, then bridge to L1, and includes an insurance pool to protect staked funds. This robust system enhances user trust and ensures seamless asset recovery and security under adverse conditions.
This project uses dynamic for wallet, the sign protocol for merkle tree inclusion snapshot, the graph for the user balance recovery. Next we deploy the smart contract on L2s including arbitrum, scroll, morph, uniswap, mantle, celo, base, fhenix, morph, linea. This smart contract would benefit if all L2s will enable this feature from day1, giving user better protections.
