Flashbots is a research and development organization formed to mitigate the negative externalities posed by Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) to stateful blockchains. Our primary focus is to enable a permissionless, transparent, and sustainable ecosystem for MEV, via a three-pronged approach: * Illuminate: bringing transparency to MEV activity. * Democratize: democratizing access to MEV revenue. * Distribute: enabling sustainable distribution of MEV revenue. We have brought transparency through open MEV activity analytics and dashboard and public and open research, with the community, for the ecosystem. We have democratized access to MEV revenue with MEV-Boost that gives all validators access to MEV revenue on equal footing, with the support of a vibrant ecosystem of builders and searchers. We have started distributing MEV revenue using the MEV-share protocol. This protocol returns 90% of captured MEV to users, wallets, and dapps, who can enjoy its benefits simply by sending transactions with programmable privacy to Flashbots Protect. MEV-share also poses a new challenge for searchers, as they must now learn how to compete for and execute against users' private transactions. For this hackathon, we invite searchers to experiment with bot searching on MEV-share order flow. We invite builders to help onboard users, wallets, and dApps to Flashbots Protect and MEV-Share, so they can enjoy the benefits of MEV distribution. Flashbots Protect aims to be the best place to send transactions on Ethereum. It’s a transaction service that offers frontrunning protection, transaction reverts protection, configurable privacy and execution, and the ability to internalize MEV for everyday users when sending transactions on Ethereum, as simple as adding the Flashbots Protect RPC to their wallets.

Since its inception in Oct 2021, Flashbots Protect RPC had protected thousands of Ethereum users from the dark forest. Earlier this year, Flashbots Protect went through a major upgrade via MEV-Share beta, which provides configurable privacy and the ability for users to receive MEV refunds for the MEV they created in sending transactions. Last week, Flashbots Protect is turbocharged with a 4x speed improvement - users can opt-in to share their transactions with additional block builders that account for 80% of the market.

MEV-share presents searchers with a new challenge of competing for and executing against transactions of users with configurable privacy. We want to see what kind of cool bots you can build with such transactions!

The programmable privacy design in MEV-Share presents a new paradigm that allows users to programmatically share information with searchers to bargain for the MEV they create in a permissionless fashion. This also creates the challenge of how to best program the privacy for different use cases.
