Before the hackathon

How to stake and confirm your spot

  1. Step 1: Navigate to your Hacker Dashboard and Connect wallet to start the staking process
  2. Step 2: If you have any issues regarding your stake - please to reach out to [email protected]. If you are unable to stake for any valid financial reasons we are happy to discuss a solution with you!
  3. Step 3: Refresh the page and ensure you also connect to our Discord server!

Why do we require staking? - It's a great incentive to get people committed to seeing the hackathon through and submitting a project by the end.

Connect to Discord and chat with us and fellow hackers

  • All event communications will take place on the ETHGlobal Discord server
  • Connecting will grant you access to the private event channels where you can connect with other participants, mentors, partners and the ETHGlobal team of course 🙂

During the hackathon

Event rules & code of conduct

You should not be working on your projects before the event officially begins. This includes coding and designing assets etc. Each submission will be judged solely on the quality of the work completed during the duration of the hackathon. We require everyone to build from scratch with exceptions for libraries and boilerplates. If there is a situation where a project/team is porting existing web2 projects to web3 then the result is that you may continue to participate but won't be eligible for Partner prizes or being a Finalist.

Create a project or join a team with an existing project

  • This done via your Hacker Dashboard
  • If you are starting your own project click Project at the top menu
  • If you are joining a team with an existing project, click Join team and insert the team token you will have received from your team

Mentorship and technical help during the event

  • Mentors will have a special Mentor role on Discord
  • They will be available to help you with any technical troubleshooting in the #mentorship-help channel

Project check-ins (async events only)

Project check-ins are an opportunity for you to update us on the status of your project. What we really want to know is if you are currently blocked on anything. Partners and ETHGlobal read through everybody's check-ins and our goal is to make sure you are you are working on your projects and you are on track for a successful project submission. We will follow up with you via email and Discord to answer your questions, if you have any. You may not be blocked on anything and don't need any assistance and that's fine too. Just let us know!

The Project check-in UI will appear on your Hacker Dashboard and it won't open up until earlier in the week before Project check-ins are due. We will send notifications when it does open.

Project feedback sessions

  • We will be hosting a number of project feedback sessions during the event. This is an opportunity to receive feedback from Partners and Mentors. You will be able to share any updates you have on your project, whether it's a working demo, Figma assets, slides, etc. It is your opportunity to get the feedback you need.

Project judging
