Livepeer is the world's open video infrastructure. Founded in 2017, Livepeer provides cost-efficient, secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure that can handle today's high demand for video processing. Livepeer's decentralized network includes over 70,000 GPUs and currently processes millions of minutes a week. Learn about how Livepeer works.
Livepeer Studio, which you’ll be using in your hack, is a web3 video toolkit that makes it easy for builders to access the decentralized Livepeer network.
🏆 LIVEPEER PRIZE OVERVIEW🏆
🥇 First Place: $2000 🥈 Runner-Up: $1500 (x2)
Choose one of the following challenge areas for your hack!
⚖️ Content Moderation for Social Media
Moderation of content online is a complex and critical problem. We'd love to see a service that can provide metadata on video assets to help with content moderation, so an application can use it in combination of the current Livepeer streaming API. One idea is a service that detects NSFW and CSAM content and create attestations. Another idea is to implment Matrix-style decentralized / federated moderation tools with Livepeer and Lens or Bluesky : https://matrix.org/docs/guides/moderation
👯 Interactive Live Streaming
Livepeer's new multi-participant live streaming feature (beta*) allows anyone to build an "Twitter Spaces" or "Instagram Live" style application, where a group can join an audio/video room that interact in real time, and broadcast it to a bigger audience. We want to see applications that leverage web3 building blocks to create token incentives around interactive live experiences. Inspirations: PleasrDAO Sock Burn 🧦 🔥 (https://decrypt.co/124155/pleasrdao-socks-fire-burn-unisocks-tokens-real-socks), TikTok live *NOTE: We are releasing this feature as a closed beta for HackFS participants! Please ping us here or shoot me a DM if you'd like to try this feature ! https://docs.livepeer.org/guides/developing/multiparticipant-stream
🤫 Private Video NFTs
A video version of stealcam.com, where NFTs are only viewable by the owner, and user can bid on the ownership in order to see what's the content. This can be done through Livepeer's new encrypted video upload + access control feature. https://docs.livepeer.org/guides/developing/access-control-vod
⛓️ Verifiable and Onchain Video
Livepeer recently launched a public, open source initiative with the goal of exploring new capabilities at the intersection of blockchain and video streaming (intro video: https://lvpr.tv/?v=539dq5qjfrx1o353). Some of the topics include creator signing, video provenance, and decentralized video streaming in general.
