At the heart of the Optimism Collective is the OP Stack, the standardized, shared, and open-source development stack that powers the Collective. A key component of the OP Stack is the infrastructure for easily spinning up new EVM-equivalent L2 blockchains like OP Mainnet. You'll likely be deploying your applications to an OP Stack chain during the Autonomous Worlds hackathon!

The OP Stack consists of several layers that can all be modified in different ways to take your MUD app to the next level.
Here's a list of crazy features you could add to your MUD app by modding the OP Stack:
- Add regular "ticks" to your game by hacking the derivation layer like Ticking Optimism did to build a MUD version of Conway's Game of Life
- Mod the derivation layer to automatically trigger in-game actions whenever a specific event is emitted on the corresponding L1 blockchain
- Track the current L1 gas burn and automatically add environmental effects when the gas burn is higher or lower than the average
- Hack the execution layer to add a custom precompile to make use of complex algorithms and libraries that can't easily be implemented in Solidity
- And so much more.
