Project Description

After we went to several crypto conferences, we felt that physical meet-ups just can’t be replaced. It feels so good that you run into an old fren at a web3 conference.

We feel that NFT enthusiasts are the same. It definitely helps for people holding the same/hot NFTs to easily find each other locally and able to connect and communicate.

That's how we come up with the idea of Popin. People connect just based on your NFT procession(for now) instead of your age/race/ look etc.

Also with Popin it will be easy for Web3 beginners to ask for advices/help from local experts thus onboarding massive potential users to Web3.

How it's Made

This project uses @WalletConnect to first establish a verification of ownership of a particular address. Subsequently, once the address is verified, it is used to query for any available NFTs that this particular user has via @graphprotocol. Once the NFTs are obtained, together with an user input of display name and description forms the user's profile. This profile will then be tagged with a location via user authorization on mobile device ready to be searched by other users who wish to search within a certain distance of their current location.

It was definitely a great experience using @WalletConnect as that strongly helped the user experience by providing the ease of wallet signing redirects on the mobile device.

We were really pleased with the result as our team discovered that @WalletConnect was only capable of being used on Swift as opposed to Objective-C on iOS. Since we've only had experience with Objective-C, and had originally decided to built a native iOS app, we were basically forced to develop an app with Swift for the first time. Needless to say, it was a beauty that we ultimately came away with the original idea that we had devised despite the non-anticipation of using Swift.
