Stream tokens to promote learning effectiveness for students in emerging economies
Among emerging economies, South Africa is facing an enormous unemployment crisis (NEETs crisis). Both government and the private sector are investing heavily to have more young people finding (and holding) a job. Within this context, work- and internship stipends are a great source of domestic investments. However, the stipend distribution process is burdened with bureaucracy, corruption and otherwise heavy administrative processes. With Earn while you learn we seek to make stipends more accessible while mitigating corruption and bureaucracy. Using our system, funders for stipends can fund a smart contract and be assured that it'll directly contribute to the learning progress of the learner. Learners will receive their stipend in a real-time stream that will automatically increase in speed if the learner demonstrates effective learning behavior such as activeness, intervalled practise, teamwork and delivery of high quality work. With Earn While You Learn we seek to promote practical, vocational education for a workforce with often low wages. Our system enables this group to earn money every second so learning becomes instantly rewarding.
In order to achieve this project we've utilised the Superfluid SDK and Optimism 's (test) network. In the process we found ways to implement Superfluid so that the money stream would begin automatically upon course enrolment. Once the stream started we experimented with algorithms that could influence the speed of the stream. We also used a custom wrapper ERC20 token to deploy a token that would offer us enough flexibility to manage the cash inflow, stream speed and stipend distribution.
