As a community, we have a responsibility to use web3 applications when possible. When we dogfood the experience, we learn and iterate, slowly improving the process.

blockParty enables event organizers in web3 to create events with tickets (free or paid) as NFTs. This allows them to evolve beyond third-party platforms (Eventbrite, Meetup, Partiful) with centralized databases and payment processors to a decentralized solution they own and control.

This project uses Unlock for contract creation and token distribution. The system made the creation of events through a contract more efficient.

We used Lens for SSO to improve the UX, eliminating the need to fill out a form.

For ticketing, we leverage Optimism for free events (due to low gas) and ApeCoin on Mainnet for paid events.

Stitching these pieces together allowed us to create an MVP that we'll use for events at Empire DAO in NYC throughout November.
